APD6500-
MOBILE FLOODLIGHT SET

Advanced
Power won the contract to produce approximately 140 mobile
floodlight sets for the Australian Defence Force after comprehensive
testing over ‘cross-country’ terrain including gravel, sand,
mud and water crossings.
The mobile floodlight set is mounted on a trailer, and consists
of five Spectra ‘Turbo’ 1000W metal halide lamps on a hydraulically
operated aluminium mast with an extended height of 8.5m from
the ground. The floodlight set is capable of illuminating
an area 100m wide by 150m long with an average light intensity
of 6.5 lux or better.
The set is powered by a Hatz 1D81C diesel engine with an Advance
Power brushless alternator and control system that delivers
6.0kVA in the harshest
of environmental conditions. There is a 240V auxiliary outlet
which can provide up to 10A with one of the five lamps off.

PORTABLE
LIGHT ASSEMBLY (PLA)
The
portable light assembly (PLA) consists of a single Spectra
‘Turbo’ 1000 W metal halide light mounted on a portable telescopic
mast assembly with a tripod base. Power is provided via a
ballast and a 50m single phase heavy duty extension cord.
When deployed to its full height of 4m the PLA provides an
illumination area of 900 m 2 with a light intensity of 5 lux
or better.
The
PLA can be powered from the generator on the Mobile Flood
light set or can be powered by an independent generator with
an output of 240V 50Hz and an available output of 5 amps or
more.

900
kVA LOAD BANKS
Advanced Power are under contract to supply two 900kVA resistive
and reactive load banks for the Australian Navy. Each load
bank will be mounted within a single enclosure on a tandem
trailer.
The load banks are designed for 450V, 60 Hz, 0.8 power factor
lagging, operating in a 3-wire floating neutral power system
and will be capable of providing a balanced 3- phase load
in 1.0 kVA increments up to 900kVA.
2.0
kW AC & DC LIGHTWEIGHT FIELD GENERATOR (LFG)
Advance power is currently developing a 2.0 kW man portable
lightweight field generator (LFG) weighing only 75 kg, capable
of producing both DC and AC power using state of the art inverter
technology. The LFG has the same engine, alternator and microprocessor
based control system as the APD1300, which has been in service
with the Australian Defence force since 1998, and proven itself
to be very reliable.
The LFG is a variable speed diesel generator operating between
2200 RPM and 3500 RPM, with a high efficiency permenant magnet
alternator providing a regulated 28V DC output, and a sine
wave inverter providing both 230V AC 50 Hz and 110 V AC 50
Hz output. The generator will deliver this output in the harshest
of enviroments, and has the flexibility to simultaneously
deliver AC and DC up to a combined 2.0kW.
